4 Months and Growing...

Today was the big day... Colton's 4 month well check.  I haven't weighed him since his last visit but everyone wants to know, "how big is he!?"  So here's the scoop:

Weight: 15 lbs., 12 oz (75%)
Height: 24 1/2 inches (45%)
Head Circumference: 42 1/2 centimeters (65%)

He cooed and made goo-goo eyes at Dr. Rachesky all through the exam.  As a matter of fact, things were perfect UNTIL the needles came out. (Or should I say went in.) Colton SCREAMED first and then cried and cried.  To make up for it, I let him take a long nap in the chair with me when we got home.  What a bittersweet snuggle session.

Here's a recent photo that touches my heart of Colton at 4 months of age.  There's nothing like love from Big Sissy!

Early morning fun

I left Colton laying in the living room on his playmat while I straightened up a bit first thing this morning.  Not more than two minutes later he was gone and there were squeals of joy coming from behind the closed door in the girls' room.  I peeked through the door and this is what I found.

How precious!

Colton's First Month

One month and one day ago, Joe and I were headed to the hospital. I truly can't believe how quickly the time flies! I am treasuring every minute with a newborn because the days of snuggling with him on our chests are numbered. Colton is a wonderful baby. He sleeps well at night- I only have to get up once to feed him and we have yet to  have a night where he cries when I put him down.  I am still swaddling him in this velcroed blanket contraption, a process his daddy thinks is cruel. I am convinced that he loves it. OK, it's more likely that I am afraid that changing anything about his sleeping routine will mess with my good luck of having a sleeping baby. Do you think they make swaddlers in size 2T?

The girls are STILL crazy about their brother. They are confidently scooping him up and toting him all over the house. I have noticed that I have gotten  more gray hair in the last month. There must be a correlation. Both big sisters have enthusiastically changed dirty diapers and fed him a bottle on the occasions that I was unavailable to nurse. It is like we have given them their own live baby doll.

Although school starts Monday, I won't be going back to work until the end of September. Colton and I will be home, getting to know each other better! In September, I will start my new job as an instructional technology teacher on special assignment (TOSA) full time. I will travel between the three nearby elementary schools, including the girls' school. I will provide resources and training for teachers as they implement new technology in their classrooms. I have worked a handful of days this summer to prepare for the school year and have also spent some time working on my website.  Becki's Tech Tips

There are a few pictures from the past month on Picasa. Click here. Also, look for pics from the first day of school to be coming soon.  Goodbye summer vacation:(
